Welcome to Elementary PE!!!

My name is Simon Olsen. I am the PE teacher here at Stricker Elementary. This is my 12th year of teaching Elementary PE and my 13th year here in Kimberly. I spent one year teaching Fitness classes at the high school.  I also coach Varsity football, 8th grade boys basketball, and JV softball at KHS.

I graduated from Buhl High School before attending school at Briar Cliff University in Iowa where I played some baseball before moving back and attending College of Southern Idaho and University of Idaho.

I have been married for 18 years and have three beautiful daughters, all three currently attend Kimberly schools. When the weather is decent, I enjoy off-roading in my jeep, camping and golfing. In the winter I snowboard and do some camping. Right now my favorite game to play on the Xbox is Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor.

I believe that Physical Education needs to include physical activity along with a whole lot of fun. In our PE classes, we start with a warm up activity that usually consists of form running with an emphasis in speed training. Occasionally, we will start class with a tag game for a more fun warm-up. We then do pushups, sit-ups, air squats and handstands to increase our overall strength. The rest of the class period is spent learning skills and games that are designed to improve our overall physical health.
