The Kimberly High School lunch staff works extremely hard every week to ensure that students receive the nutrition they need to stay healthy. Lunch lady Amber Hartman gives 40 hours of her time every week to ensure that kids get fed and have a smile on their faces.

Amber said, “I love being able to feed the kids. For some, it is the only meal they get for the day.  And I love seeing the kids’ faces light up when I remember their names. I am good with that.”

However, some kids can have problems with food allergies, restrictions, etc. So, how do the lunch staff help handle this issue?

“We get all the notes from the doctors,” Amber said. “We have one kid specifically who has very many restrictions. So, I make sure that I have something they can eat.”

If you take a look inside the cafeteria, there is small trailer that has been dubbed the “Snack Shack.” Our lunch staff put a lot of time and effort into running it so that students have additional options for snacks and treats throughout the day.

So, the next time you see one of our lunch staff during the day, thank them for their work and effort to help the students of Kimberly High School.
