With the Spring season approaching fast, the KHS softball program is gearing up for another great season. After winning back-to-back state championships in the last two years, our Lady Dawgs are working hard in hopes of winning a third consecutive state title. This program has more than enough talent and potential to pull this off. However, Kimberly has moved up to the 4A division, making the competition even more challenging.

Last season the varsity squad crushed the season and pulled off a record of 24-4. The previous year they finished with 26-3 for the record. Over the last two years, JV and varsity have won the district title. With the target on their backs, our Lady Dawgs will need to work twice as hard to achieve their goal.

The season is starting off strong with only three games to prepare them for the Win the Pitch Tournament in Boise over spring break. There, the varsity and JV teams will compete against some of the top teams in the state, regardless of classification. They expect Capital to be their biggest competition after earning fourth in 4A state last year. This tournament will be a great way for the program to show off its talent.

With tryouts just weeks away, the girls are working hard to prepare for the season. From open gyms to practicing in their free time, Kimberly’s softball program is going the extra mile.

“I’m excited for our program this year,” said senior Jaci Cowger. “I definitely think we will have strong competition, but I also think everyone in our program is focused on being their best. As a program, we are looking at doing great things this season and possibly eyeing that three-peat.”

Returning players have done a great job in leading the others. They push everyone to keep working hard but still know how to keep it fun. Between friendly competitions and cheering everyone on, the energy is at an all-time high. Overall, this program has tons of talent and potential. If they continue to work hard, our girls have a shot at winning again and earning that three-peat.
