I am absolutely thrilled to be back for my second year at KHS! I teach English 9 and coach the speech and debate team. I graduated from Lewis-Clark State College with a degree in secondary education English and a minor in creative writing. I love writing poetry (and some short stories) whenever I have free time. In 2020, my poetry was published for the first time in a literary journal, and I hope to have more published soon! I believe students do best when they have support from their teachers and their parents/guardians, so please don’t hesitate to reach out to me.
The function of English nine is to study the elements of English with a primary focus on reading, writing, and speaking. Our units this year will include writings about following the crowd, narrative writing, researching how brands persuade us, Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and The Alchemist by Paulo Coehlo. My number one goal for every student is to improve their writing skills. The best skill I can provide my students is the ability to articulate themselves well through written language, so I place an emphasis on tangible writing skills. We will be writing a lot, but the students will benefit for it.
