The Kimberly 2024-2025 boys’ varsity basketball season was one for the books. From the first tip-off to the final buzzer, the team showed incredible determination, teamwork and skills. Despite a rough start to the season and coming up short in the district title game, the Bulldogs rallied at the state tournament to claim the consolation championship, beating Cole Valley and Sugar-Salem in back-to-back games.
Senior Ryker Larson said, “This year went good for us boys. It was my last year playing high school basketball, so I tried to make it my best. I was a shooting guard, and I enjoyed it because I got to shoot the ball a lot and score points for my team.”
For the seniors, Larson included, ending their last season with a trophy was a bittersweet moment.
“I have been playing basketball since elementary school,” Larson said. “During a game when we weren't doing so well, I just thought about how good it feels to win, and I did better. I was able to manage schoolwork and sports well. I just stayed up on my schoolwork.”
Junior Porter Lloyd said “This season went pretty well. We bagged a lot of victories. I played basketball since I was in diapers.
“My position on the team was the dragon — yes that was a real position. I like that position because I get to pass the ball a lot.”
