All students interested in agriculture related studies are encouraged to join the National FFA Organization. It's a youth organization that focuses on agricultural education and leadership development. KHS has a very activity FFA chapter where students develop leadership skills, learn about agriculture, food, and natural resources, participate in competitions and events, explore career paths in agriculture, gain personal growth through experiences and mentorship. General Agriculture
Intro to Ag
This course is designed to give students an introduction to the Agricultural Education Model and the Agriculture Industry. Students develop an understanding of the agriculture industry, career options in agriculture, livestock production; food and fiber production, dairy food production, agriculture and the environment, record keeping, parliamentary procedure and an introduction to the National FFA Organization.

Ag Sales & Marketing
Agricultural Sales and Marketing is a course designed to develop skills in preparing, developing, and practicing agribusiness sales competencies. The skills learned are necessary to gain and maintain employment in the wholesale/retail agriculture sales field. Students will gain an understanding of agricultural markets and the development of marketing opportunities.
Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level: 10-12
Ag Leadership
A comprehensive course in developing agricultural leadership, citizenship, and cooperation. It includes topics in personal development, employee/employer relations, and group and individual interpersonal communication skills.

Natural Resources
Range Science
This course is centered around the scientific principles of managing the western United States public rangelands. "Rangelands" are vast arid landscapes that cover most of western North America and the earth. During this course, students will examine the ecological principles that cause these grasslands, shrublands, woodlands and deserts to change or stay the same. Students will also explore how humans use and manage these lands and ecosystems. Rangeland management is a modern challenge that must be met with broad thinking and new, sustainable practices to maintain and restore rangelands and the human communities that rely on them.

A course designed to introduce students to the biological, environmental and ecological concepts encountered in a temporal forest environment.

Fish & Wildlife
A course designed to examine the importance of fish and wildlife science, outdoor recreation and natural resources. During this class you will explore ecological concepts, fish and wildlife populations, aquaculture and hunting and fishing regulations. Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade Level: 9-12

This course is designed to offer a hands on approach to learning basic animal husbandry skills such as nutrition, handling, and veterinary care.

Veterinary Studies
This course provides the opportunity for students to explore different avenues of the veterinary profession. Students will be exposed to veterinary science and principles which include anatomy, physiology, chemistry, animal health and disease, dentistry and laboratory procedures.

Equine Studies
Welcome to all to things "HORSES." From the beginning--- through time, to modern day, we will view the equine industry from all angles- blending the world of science and the art form that is horsemanship. During this course students will become acquainted with the horse as a whole-- from the way that they move, to the different breed characteristics, how they function at their highest potential, the importance of correct confirmation, and a look into how we utilize the equine species in the 21st century. I am excited to share with you, my expertise within this beloved industry. From trade, to skill, to hobby, to a possible career-- my goal is that you will form a vast knowledge of the industry and walk away with a great appreciation for these magnificent creatures.

Plant Systems
Plant and Soil Science
This course is designed to be a hands-on deep dive into the basics of plant science. Students will become familiarized with many different areas of the plant growth and development including soil structure, soil analysis, soil composition, the importance of soil health, environmental factors, soil fertility, growing regions, plant/seed anatomy and physiology.

Floral Design
Your semester be filled with beautiful projects, graceful knowledge, and most of all- unforgettable memories as we explore a realm where aesthetics, art, and agricultural collide. Let us be open to the joy and emotional wellbeing that ornamental horticulture & floriculture have to offer. This course is designed to help students develop skills within the floral design industry. Students will practice common techniques used to design and create a variety of items that are traditionally sold by a florist at a retail floral business.
Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level: 10-12
Advanced Floral Design
This course is designed to allow students to practice real life floristry skills over the course of their high school career. Students are welcome to take this course multiple times during their education career as they will work on enhancing their commercial floristry skills, receive marketing experience, one-on-one customer service prep and will formulate a horticultural business plan.

Landscape Design (Ag Landscaping)
This class includes a unique pairing of art, science, and engineering principles. In an integrated fashion, "Landscape Design" offers the student the ability to exercise their creative mind while familiarizing themselves with the ins and outs of modern-day design, plant care, and management. Enrolling in Landscape Design offers students the power to indulge in a “trendy,” 21st century career path with that beloved hands-on ag class flare. Students will be exposed to all aspects of the industry including sketching, drafting, site analysis, plant identification, residential/ urban planning and will develop a unique understanding of how to use industry standard CAD software.

Greenhouse Management (Ag Greenhouse)
This course is designed to be centered around a unique hands-on experience that familiarizes students with basic plant care and greenhouse operations. Students will get acquainted with the ins and out of plant propagation techniques, nutrition, transplanting, care and maintenance. This course also touches on the business side of ornamental horticulture and gives students a chance to dive into the sales and marketing aspect of the industry-- during the semester students will run social media accounts, create marketing content, and become acquainted with the details of running a retail business that is centered around our annual plant sale.

Food Science
Dairy Food Processing
The Dairy Food Processing course will focus on the study of processing milk and milk products and promote the advanced study of dairy manufacturing. Students will develop an understanding of the history of dairy food processing, quality assurance and food safety, marketing milk products, and career opportunities in the dairy processing industry. Students will get the opportunity to turn milk into various milk products during the class.

Food Science
Agricultural Food Science is a specialization course in the CASE Program of Study. Students will complete hands-on activities, projects, and problems that simulate actual concepts and situations found in the food science and safety industry allowing students to build content knowledge and technical skills. Students will investigate areas of food science including food safety, food quality, food chemistry, and food processing. Research and experimental design will be highlighted as students develop and conduct industry appropriate investigations.

Advanced Food Science
This course is a dual credit course to offer AGRI 180 Credit through CSI. Students will focus their hands on activities and class work around the Processing of Food Products. Students will develop food safety plans, process new food products, and develop a greater understanding of why and how we process different food products. Prerequisite: Intro to Ag, Ag Food Science Grade level: 11, 12

Ag Mechanics
"This course is designed to introduce students to agricultural mechanics. Students will develop an understanding for shop safety, tool identification, electrical wiring, basic plumbing, beginning CAD and CNC, and metal fastening." Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level:10, 11, 12
Ag Structures
A course preparing students to maintain, evaluate, design, and build agriculture structures using approved construction techniques.

Small Engines
This course is designed to give students a hands on study of four-cycle gasoline engine operation and maintenance. Students will receive instruction on engine operation and supervision and instruction on small engine overhaul procedures. Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level:10, 11, 12

Beginning Welding
A general course in beginning agriculture welding which includes study in the following areas: shop safety and operation, tool identification and use, gas welding and cutting, basic arc welding. Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level:10, 11, 12
Advanced Welding
This course is designed to provide students and advanced understanding of welding and cutting skills. Students will receive instruction, and apply their skills, in the areas of SMA Welding, Mig Welding, Oxy/Acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting.

Ag Fabrication
This course is designed to provide students an advanced understanding of welding and project construction. Students will receive instruction, and apply their skills, in the areas of SMA Welding, MigWelding, Oxy/Acetylene cutting, and plasma cutting. Students will apply their skills through the construction for projects that either benefit the individual, school, or community. Students may take Ag Fabrication multiple times as new skills will be developed with different projects. Prerequisite: Intro to Ag Grade level: 11, 12
