The Kimberly girls basketball teams have had a great season so far. On Wednesday, Jan. 31, the JV squad played Filer in the championship game. It was close, but the girls pulled away, and are now district champs!
The varsity team was ranked second in the district, so they played Buhl for their first game. They beat Buhl soundly, so they got to play Filer at CSI two days later. Sadly, the girls lost by 4, and now they will play Gooding today to see who will go to the championship game against Filer.
Macy Dille, a captain on the girls basketball team, has been a huge leader on the team. She has been the top scorer in many games. On senior night the girls played one of their biggest games against Filer. The girls won 49-39. Macy had 16 points and 10 rebounds. Another big player on the team is freshman Taya Plew. In the game against Filer, she had 18 points and 10 rebounds in a big win over Filer.
Macy Dille was asked what has been good about the season and what she has liked, and she said, “We have had our ups and downs, but each loss and win has made me closer to each girl on the team. I know that I have friends for life from this team.”
What are her thoughts are on the game against Gooding today?
“I know we can beat them, but we have to come in with the right mentality and not be too overconfident.”
Taya Plew was also asked what has been good about the season, and also asked what is something she is looking forward to. She said, “This season has been good, and our team has come a long way. I’m really hoping we can pull out a in this next week. Hopefully we make it to state because I am looking forward to going to play there.”
Overall, the girls team has been doing well. Hopefully, they pull out a win on Monday and have a chance at state.
