The Kimberly girls track team did very well this season. Just last week they ended up winning the district meet. They had a score of 117.5 and the next closest score was 69.5. The girls track team are looking good to hopefully get a trophy at state track. There were many individuals who scored a lot of points for the team and one main one was Sydney Wayment.

“It went well,” Wayment said on her team’s district performance. “We were able to break the school record again for the 4x1, and then break the school record for the medley. I did well in all my personal events and can’t wait to see what we can do at state.”

A sophomore, Dakota Wayment, was also asked how districts went. “Going into districts I was nervous about not making it in the top four because at previous meets I haven’t been jumping that well. But I forgot that whenever it comes to districts, I always jump my best.”

As of now Sydney is ranked sixth in 3A in the 100 meters. Along with that she is tied for eighth in the state for long jump. So far Sydney is having a good season. Also, in both the relays she is in they are ranked third in 3A. Dakota Wayment had her biggest jump yet at districts. She got a new personal best jumping a 16’3 and ending up getting second behind her sister Sydney, who jumped a solid 16’5 to get first place.

There are many talented ladies on this track team. Everyone is excited about what is in store for Kimberly girls track and we are hoping to see a trophy from the girls track team. The state track meet will be held at Middleton High School in the Treasure Valley on Friday, May 17, and Saturday, May 18.
