Last Thursday we had a sendoff for the girls soccer team as they left for the state tournament in Caldwell. The band played the school fight song, and the entire student body was standing and clapping. They left a gap for the girls to walk through to get on their bus. The girls came out of the lunchroom doors wearing their Nike spirit packs and holding their soccer bags. All of the students and staff were cheering them on, and many had signs to show big amounts of support. The girls then left with a determined state of mind.
This Soccer season went really well for all the girls. They lost just one match this year and eventually became district champions, where they beat Sun Valley Community School by a score of 5-1! After getting a huge win at districts they headed to Caldwell to compete against Homedale at state. Our Kimberly Bulldogs won against Homedale, 1-0, and defeated Marsh Valley by a score of 4-1. The victory put the girls in the 3A state championship match against Sugar-Salem. The Bulldogs fell 1-0 in a tight match to finish runner-up.
Congratulations to the girls for going so far and working so hard this year! We loved seeing all the girls in their new state hoodies. And even though they didn’t become state Champions, they still got so far. Even with the loss the girls still did great, they were very determined and worked hard to get where they are now.
Sophomore Lexi Brewer stated, “I believe this season went so well for us girls! We are definitely a great team, and we work great together and worked so hard to have a great season and bond throughout the season. Going to state and placing second was a great achievement for us!”
