Hello everyone! Make sure that you bring your laptops with you charged and ready to go to school each day! Be prepared and make sure you are coming to your classes with everything that you need.

LANGUAGE ARTS:
This week, we'll start by completing "Anticipation Stations" to build background knowledge for The Watsons Go To Birmingham. We'll also introduce Week 2 vocabulary on Monday and Tuesday. In the latter part of the week, on Wednesday and Thursday, we'll focus on narrative writing, specifically learning how to craft impactful leads and endings for our stories.
On Friday, A-day students will have their first vocabulary quiz covering Weeks 1 and 2, so be sure to study! All vocabulary words are posted on Canvas, and you should also review the vocabulary document you created in class.
If you need any help with assignments or topics, please schedule a meeting with me after school. I am available most days except Wednesdays and Fridays.

MATH:
In math, we'll work on finding the greatest common factor and the least common multiple of two or more numbers. We'll also do more work with area and look at composite shapes. We should be ready for our first real test at the end of September. If students have been absent, they can find the missing assignments on Canvas or come see me for a copy. Please let me know if you have any questions.

PACK:
This week in PACK we are going to be talking about what all should be brought to school and citizenship (not only in school, but in life). We will be talking and practicing enjoying our time in the hallways, cafeteria, and in school, but being mindful of where we are positioned to allow people to walk around us instead of blocking paths, holding doors open for others (chivalry is not dead), allowing people to exit before we enter, and a bunch of other simple yet overlooked things like that this week. As always please contact me with any concerns (bcarlson@kimberly.edu)

SOCIAL STUDIES:
Hey everyone,
This week we will begin taking notes on ‘How to Read a Map” and learn new map skills of how to navigate through a map and use it in case they ever need those skills. After we are done with the notes, we will start our first project in this class: Compass Rose Drawing.
