Hello! My name is Morgan Parks and I teach Spanish to 8th graders here at KMS. I am married and we have a 2-year-old energetic boy. I have an associate in secondary ed from CSI, a BA from BSU in Spanish and I finished up my teaching certificate through Idaho State University. This is my 9th year as a teacher. I have previously taught 6th grade, math 180, and science-all in middle school. Along the path to becoming a teacher I was a windsurfing instructor, janitor, climbing gym instructor, Raft Guide/Outdoor Ed Trip Leader, Federal Wild Land Fire Fighter, an excavation equipment operator and a PSR.
I have been studying Spanish since I was in 8th grade when I took my first class. Since then, I have taken every opportunity to improve my Spanish. I continued throughout high school, into CSI and then BSU. Every semester I took at least one Spanish class. I was offered the opportunity to live in Argentina for 2 years. I have also traveled a fair amount through Mexico and Peru. I love learning about other cultures through my studies and travels.
I will encourage students here to improve their Spanish language skills through frequent practice and immersion. The more immersed in a language, the faster a person can learn it. You don't have to travel to another country to immerse yourself in the language- though it would be easier to do so if you were in a place where people didn't speak English to you all of the time. - my 2 cents- take it or leave it.
I care about each student in my class. If you need anything, feel free to contact me by email: mparks@kimberly.edu
In my free time my family likes to travel around in our converted shuttle bus motorhome and explore. When we travel, we like to go places we can practice our new hobby of wingfoiling, mountain biking, hiking and Onewheeling. In the winter we enjoy skiing, snowboarding and xc skiing.
