LANGUAGE ARTS:

Hello, it has been great to see your students again this week. Welcome to a new quarter! If your student has any concerns about their grade due to an inconsistency on PowerSchool, please have them speak with me by Tuesday, tomorrow. I will be finalizing students grades Tuesday after school and will be unable to make any changes after that time.

This quarter in English Language Arts we will be starting a new unit, “In the Dark.” This unit will cover stories of everyday people and heroes alike as they face unknown obstacles and new frontiers. We will be studying Perseus, Hatshepsut, Hoot, The Volcano Lady, and Everybody Jump. At the end of the quarter, we will be writing an informative essay. This week we are focusing on checking quarter 2 grades, pretesting affixes, and prefixes, retaking the STAR test, and getting back into StudySync assignments. Please reach out to me with any questions.

STEM:

Fresh start! New semester, new quarter! I expect to see great things from all my bulldogs this quarter! This week we are discussing compressive and tensile forces. Students will then use what they learned to design and create a bridge out of popsicle sticks that will be weight tested. This project will be done with their new table partner. A-Day bridges will be due at the end of class on the 24th and B-Day bridges will be due at the end of class on the 25th.

I am moving Unit 3 Vocabulary Quiz A-C to February to give students enough build time for their bridges. Donations of popsicle sticks, and glue sticks are always appreciated. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me.
