Welcome to the KMS 6th Grade Weekly Update!

Please make sure that students come prepared to school with everything they will need to be successful (pencils, paper, charged computer, etc.)! Also make sure to bundle up this week with warm clothes as the weather outside will be pretty cold!

LANGUAGE ARTS:

Hello all!

This week in English Language Arts we will be studying Hatsheptsut, a story in Study Sync. We will be learning the importance of a well written paragraph. We will be focusing on topic sentences, citing evidence, supporting sentences, and how to write a thesis. We are continuing with our nonfiction reading. The requirement for this quarter is 2 AR points of nonfiction, these can be added up from multiple books or one longer book. Stay warm out there and as always, please email me if you have any questions or concerns.

SCIENCE:

Hey All,

This week we will be starting to learn about chemical and physical properties/changes. We will also be doing the ice cream lab where students will be making observations and collecting data to observe what type of phase change occurred and what type of reaction is present. If your student has not taken the ECM/Phase Change quiz, please remind them to do so. The quiz can be found on my canvas page. If you have any questions or concerns, I would be happy to answer them. Have a fantastic week and bundle up!
