PACK:

This week we are creating a budget based on some of the job ideas we received during the job survey we did last week.  Your student is being asked to look up their dream job (or any job they think is interesting), find how much that job makes and then shop for a house, car, cell phone, internet, and a weeks' worth of groceries. We discussed how many more bills there are in adult life, but this is a good jump off point to lean a little bit about the basics of budgeting, what goes into adult life, and why we cannot just have whatever we want whenever we want it. If you have questions, please reach out to me bcarlson@kimberly.edu.

SCIENCE

In Science, we are starting Chapter 2: Forces. We are practicing what happens when forces collide by completing a lab with marbles and spinning tops. We are reviewing how forces balance with a Bill Nye video.

SOCIAL STUDIES:

Hey everyone,

We are going to be working on learning about Asia this week! We are going to start this off by working on an Asia Map where we will need to find and label the countries/capitals/cities/water features/etc. in the continent! Let me know if you have any questions.

STEM:

This week in STEM we are focusing on bridges. Students will be working with their table partners to build a bridge from popsicle sticks and hot glue that can withstand 12.8 lbs. The specific criteria and constraints are listed in Canvas. Bridges will be tested on the 28th & 29th. Looking forward, students will have a Quiz on Unit 3 Vocabulary A-C on February 11th (A-Day) & February 12th (B-Day).
