February is Love the School Bus Month, and throughout the month we’ll be recognizing the essential role the yellow school bus plays in education and in the daily lives of our students and families.
💛 Fun facts about the yellow school bus:
- The color is called National School Bus Yellow, chosen in 1939 for maximum visibility.
- Yellow is easier to see in early morning and late afternoon light - when most students ride the bus.
- It stands out better in fog, rain, snow, and low-light conditions.
- Studies show drivers notice yellow faster, helping reduce reaction time around stopped buses.
- The color improves visibility of stop arms and flashing red lights, helping keep students safe.
🚌 Student Challenge – “Why I Love My Bus”
We encourage students to create a short note, drawing, or piece of artwork answering: “Why do I love my school bus?”
Submissions can be sent to the district office, and we’ll be highlighting student work throughout the month as part of our Love the School Bus campaign.
Thank you for helping us celebrate our transportation team and the role they play in keeping students safe and connected to learning.
