Digital Literacy and Technology Specialist

This position will collaborate with teachers and administration to improve digital literacy of students and staff.

Primary Responsibility to:
Curriculum and Technology Directors

Secondary Responsibility to:
Building Principals

Responsibilities (Job functions)

  • Coordinate with the Curriculum and Technology Directors in creating professional development for digital literacy
  • In cooperation with the technology department, ensure that digital teaching tools are functional and accessible to teaching staff
  • Troubleshoot instructional technology matters
  • Facilitate communication between technology department, teaching staff, and administration
  • Participate in recommendation for future hardware procurement
  • In cooperation with the Curriculum Director, develop instructional strategies to teach digital literacy and meet curriculum goals
  • Create and promote positive, nurturing, and productive environment for all staff
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Required:

  • Valid teaching credential
  • Understanding of digital literacy
  • Ability to trouble shoot instructional technology matters
  • Understanding of technology as a classroom tool for student learning
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop creative solutions
  • Classroom teaching experience
  • Experience in collaborative settings with adults
  • Understanding of Common Core Standards and curriculum development

Goals for the 2014-15 School Year:

  • Decrease the number of instructionally related technology help tickets
  • Meet periodically with and facilitate duties of Technology Instructional Coaches
  • Increase digital literacy for staff and students
  • Meet periodically with principals and serve as a liaison for the technology department

Terms of Employment:
Compensation will be determined by experience and length of service as reflected on the district salary schedule. Benefits include health insurance, sick leave, and personal leave.

Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be in accordance with provisions of the board’s policy on evaluation of certificated employees.
