Child Nutrition Worker/Cook/Cashier

Qualifications:
A demonstrated ability to accomplish the performance tasks listed below; and such alternatives to the below qualifications as the supervisor may find appropriate and acceptable.

Minimum:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Demonstrate aptitude and initiative for successful performance of the tasks listed

Desired:

  • One year experience as a cashier/food service worker

Primary Responsibility to:
Child Nutrition Director / Kitchen Manager

Secondary Responsibility to:
Principals and Superintendent of Schools

Job Goal:
To understand and perform all tasks necessary to the operation of the Child Nutrition Program. The Child Nutrition Worker / Cook shall carry out the following performance tasks.

  1. Prepare all items according to standard procedures and recipes as per planned menu.
  2. Assist in the removal of food trays and in the cleaning of counters, tables, and furnishings in the cafeteria area.
  3. Assist in the daily clean up of the kitchen, service areas and equipment.
  4. Assist in the major cleaning of refrigerators and storage areas at regularly scheduled intervals.
  5. Assist in the storage and disposal of unused food.
  6. Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen.
  7. Reports to the Child Nutrition Director any faulty or inferior quality food with is received or prepared.
  8. Perform, if needed, related duties at special meal functions.
  9. Assist with all the daily paperwork (production sheets, weekly orders, and monthly orders)
  10. Account for number of adults paid, exchange and charge lunches
  11. Account for number of students exchange, charge, full or reduced price, and free lunches
  12. Account for individual extra milks sold
  13. Deposit all monies received daily into the student lunch accounts and write receipts
  14. Complete daily, weekly, and end of the month reports accurately and submit them to the child nutrition office.
  15. Daily or weekly bring deposits to main office to be taken to the bank.
  16. Perform such other duties as may be assigned by the Child Nutrition Director.
  17. Assume the manager's duties in his/her absence.

  • Persons performing service in this position classification will exert 50 lbs. of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • This type of work involves standing most of the time, but will involve walking or sitting for extended periods
  • Perceiving the nature of sound, near and far vision, depth perception, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate business related equipment, and handle and work with various materials and objects are important job aspects.

Terms of Employment:
This position shall be considered in all respects “employment at will” and the employee is subject to discharge by the district at any time without cause. The “employment period” and other descriptions and terms set forth in this job description shall not create a property right in the employee and such are set forth only to advise the employee of when and what type of services will be required by the district so long as employment continues.

Evaluation:
Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Supervisor of Food Services who may consult with the building principals.
