Policy 3312 Detention

For minor infractions of school rules or regulations, or for minor misconduct, staff may detain students. Students may be required to attend after school or Saturday detention for up to four (4) hours. Preceding the assessment of such punishment, the staff member shall inform the student of the nature of the offense charged, and/or the specific conduct that allegedly constitutes the violation. The student shall be afforded an opportunity to explain or justify his/her actions to the staff member. Parents must be notified prior to a student serving an after-school or Saturday detention. Students detained for corrective action or punishment shall be under the supervision of the staff member or designee.
